I Am For Understanding.

I am from my young, carefree imagination,
Where a weeping willow was a hut,
And the towering oak tree out front, a giant.

I am from the unattainable dreams I chase,
Just because I enjoy the thought of them.

I am from a childhood bursting with love,
And teenage years filled with rebellious difficulty.

From the evolution of child to adult
That transformed me too quickly
When responsibility was thrust upon me.

I am from the need to be accepted
By those who don’t matter;
And the overwhelming hurt
Caused by the ones I trusted most.

I am the strive for perfection,
Disappointed when it cannot be reached.

I am from a family of republicans,
When I don’t care about politics;

Just peace.

  1. Madi I love this! Your first stanza was my favorite, it had a lot of good detail. Your last line "Just peace." really ties in the poem with the title. I liked that your poem went from youngest to recent, it was easy to follow but really well writen. Like I said before, I love this! (:
