i am not a Soldier.
the thump of marching boots
has never been my song.
a rifle
stocked with metal Hate
was by no means thrust upon
my delicate palms.
i am not a Soldier.
on no account instructed to Kill.
merely a child,
safe at home,
always Sheltered from war’s chill.
i am not a soldier.
nor will I ever be.
but I thank the ones
Fighting overseas
Risking their lives
to Protect me.
